As New York City saw its first snow of the season on December 9, a Brooklyn resident captured an evocative urban scene of mist shrouding a street in the borough’s Park Slope neighborhood while the snow fell. Footage recorded by Seth Kamil shows the condensation in the air as the snow evaporates on the residential street. Speaking to Storyful, Kamil said, “The New York City Department of Transportation was repaving the street during the first snowfall. The hot tar and cold snow created the rising steam!” The seasonal weather was short-lived, though, and the National Weather Service predicted temperatures would climb into the mid-50s over the weekend.
